Australia bans Chinese investment firms and other ‘foreigners’ from bids on world’s largest private property, claiming it is ‘contrary to the national interest’

Australia has blocked the sale to ‘foreign entities’ of a cattle farming business that is one of the world’s largest private land holdings, ruling it was not in the national interest since part of the holdings are adjacent to a weapons testing area. Kidman and Co Ltd includes 11 cattle farms covering 101,411 square kilometres across South Australia, Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Queensland - a combined area bigger than South Korea.
